Nancy Ione Stepek of Rockville, Maryland, was called home to God on February 22, 2026, at the age of 69. She died in her home, surrounded by her family.
Nancy was born to Thaddeus and Teddy Clarkson Stepek in 1956, in Washington, DC. She was the beloved sister of the late Susan Stepek Creitz, the late Byron Stepek, John Stepek of Gaithersburg, Emily Stepek of Rockville, and Tad Stepek of Mt. Airy, MD. She was a loving and devoted aunt to 35 nieces and nephews, who were a great source of joy throughout her life.
Nancy enjoyed working as the warm and cheerful receptionist of a family services center and interacting with the children. She cared deeply for animals, and rarely missed a day feeding stray cats near her workplace.
Nancy enjoyed drives in the country, especially those taken with her cherished mother and her loyal companion of forty years, Tom Calantonio. She spent many weekends shopping antique stores for dolls, trade cards and other collectables. But her largest collection was one of framed photographs of her family, all of whom she loved dearly.
Nancy was a devoted Catholic and served as a Eucharistic minister for St. Mary’s.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 520 Veirs Mill Road, Rockville, Maryland on Monday, April 6, 2026 at 10:00 AM. Private interment will take place at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
